Proposed Uniform Evidence Act for the Northern Territory

Consultation is now closed.

The Northern Territory Government is proposing the enactment of a new evidence law based on the model Uniform Evidence Act. 

The timetable for this project includes introduction of legislation in the Legislative Assembly in mid-2011 and commencement by 31 March 2012. A consultation Bill and discussion paper have been released for public consultation and are as the following:
