Liquor Commission

Establishment of the Liquor Commission

The Liquor Commission was established under the Liquor Commission Act 2018.

The commission is an independent statutory authority with extensive powers to regulate liquor licensing in the Northern Territory. It is the primary decision-maker in regards to liquor licence applications and in hearing and determining complaints under the Liquor Act 2019.

The commission is supported by the Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade’s Licensing NT division. Licensing NT supports the commission by investigating complaints, monitoring licensed venues, enforcing liquor laws and compiling reporting requirements.

If you have any questions about liquor licensing in the Northern Territory (including applications or complaints about licensed venues), please contact Licensing NT at liquorlicensing.ditt@nt.gov.au.
