Community Justice Centre Act discussion paper September 2014

The Department of the Attorney-General and Justice is conducting a review of the Community Justice Centre Act.

The Community Justice Centre was established in 2003 and became part of legislation in 2006 to help resolve disputes between groups in a cost-effective way.

Section 32 of the Community Justice Centre Act requires the review of:

  • the operation and effectiveness of the Act
  • the operation and effectiveness of the Community Justice Centre
  • the operation and effectiveness of the Community Justice Centre Consultative Council
  • any other matters arising from the operation of any provision in the Act that the Chief Executive Officer thinks should be subject to a review.

The Department of the Attorney-General and Justice have invited submissions on the Act, the Community Justice Centre and the Community Justice Centre Consultative Council.

The Department of the Attorney-General and Justice will also be conducting public forums in Darwin and Alice Springs. Further details will be advised shortly.

Closing date for submissions is 31 October 2014.
